Pre and Post Treatment Advice

Pre-treatment Advice:

Avoid unprotected UV sun exposure for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to treatment.  It is recommended that you avoid unprotected UV exposure throughout the duration of your treatments.

Avoid self tanning lotions and spray tans for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment.

Wear a broad-spectrum of at least 30+ (UVA / UVB) daily.

Do not allow your skin to be sunburnt or exposed to the sun without sunscreen in the 4 week period prior to your treatment and / or between treatments.

If you have a history of herpes / cold sore, you may wish to take anti viral medication prior to treatment, to prevent onset.

Any raised or suspicious lesions cannot be treated with IPL unless written approval is received by your doctor.

Do not wax, puck, use electrolysis throughout the duration of your treatment and a minimum if 4 weeks prior to your first treatment..

Please thoroughly shave the proposed treatment site 3 - 4 days prior to treatment (so that stubble is visible).

Post-treatment Advice:

Initially after your treatment your skin may feel warm, similar to mild sunburn and the treated area may remain pink for 2 - 3 hours.  Some mild swelling may occur, this is transient and will subside within 2 - 3 days following your treatment.   You may need to apply a cold compress to the treatment area at intervals throughout the day.  It is preferable to avoid make-up for 2 - 3 days should you experience any tenderness, redness etc on the area treated.

Avoid the sun, swimming, extreme temperatures and vigorous exercise for between 1 - 3 days after treatment.  Precautions need to be taken for 2 months after treatment by using a minimum of SPF 30+ and avoid unprotected UV (sun) exposure.

Avoid any rubbing or friction movements on the treated area for between 1 - 3 days after treatment.

Do not pick or pull at any areas of micro crusting, as this may increase your chances of infection, resulting in a scar.

When showering on the day / day after treatment avoid any type of heat or even hot water on the area being treated.  The treated skin should be pat dried and not rubbed.  Apply recommended products liberally.

After a pigmentation treatment, the pigment may become darker and remain dark for 3 - 4 days.  The darkened pigment will gradually shed from the skin or slowly fade a be reabsorbed by the body.

Broken capillaries may appear a little darker initially, but will gradually clear following treatment.

Do not exfoliate the area for 1 week or until no longer sensitive.

Do not apply and deodorant for 12 - 42 hours after an IPL underarm treatment if skin appears irritated.

Following hair removal treatment, stubble representing dead hair being shed from the follicle will appear within 10 - 20 days from treatment date.  This is normal and will eventually shed in the daily hygiene procedures.  Do not pick at stubble,

Skin care that compliments photo rejuvenation treatments is advisable to be added to your daily regime.  It is highly recommended to commence the use of skin care that has high levels of vitamins, hyaluronic acid and or antioxidants 3 weeks prior, and during your treatments, this will increase the results.  the us of an SPF sunscreen is also highly recommended for long term use.
